Looking to try diving in Gozo?

If you are looking to find out what this whole Scuba Diving thing is all about, then look no further than Blue Waters Dive Cove.
Gozo is the perfect place to get an introduction to the underwater world. We have gin clear water, plenty of suitable, interesting locations and amazing marine life to see. Here at Blue Waters we have a relaxed approach with perfectly complements the slow pace of life here on Gozo, with your safety and comfort the number one priority.
You can enrol for the Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) course as young as 12 (8-10 year olds can make a Bubblemaker course), and you just need to complete a basic medical questionnaire to sign up.

In Gozo we are blessed with a wide range of dive sites to suit a DSD (Discover Scuba Diving) experience. On the south coast our neighbouring Hondoq Bay, Xatt l-Ahmar bay and Mgarr ix-Xini are all perfect candidates. Xwejni Bay and Dahlet Qorrot are perfect should the wind change and blow from the south.
Due to this we can make sure that you have calm, clear diving conditions for your first time, regardless of the wind direction.

Also, we enter the water from the shore which makes for a relaxed start to the dive. Most of the dive sites have a very easy entrance, either from a beach, small ladder or slipway. Going into the water slowly and carefully removes a lot of stress from the equation.

Divers training

This slow, steady approach works wonders, giving you plenty of time to adjust to the new environment.
First off we will focus on breathing alone, keeping your feet on the sandy bottom for stability. Take as much time as you need to get comfortable and find a good rhythm of breathing.
Once you are happy you will descend slowly to a shallow depth, taking your first true breaths underwater.
Here we will do some basic skills training; making sure you can fix small issues on your own should you need to. This will also make you more comfortable and confident underwater by the second!
You will learn to clear water from your regulator should you need to, find if you were to accidentally lose it and clear water from inside your mask. All these things are unlikely to happen, but it is wonderful to be able to fix such things in the worst case, stress free!
After this skill training it is time to head out for a dive. This experience is very flexible and we move at your pace. Should all be good and you are comfortable, we can continue down to a maximum depth of 12m. All of the suitable dive sites are perfect and enable us to make a smooth, slow descent. This makes finding your balance, effectively controlling buoyancy and equalising your ears as easy as possible.
There is also plenty to see! You will see a variety of reef fish such as: Wrasse, Bream, Red Mullet, Founder, Cardinalfish, Damselfish and many more. If you are lucky and keep your eyes open, then amazing animals such as Octopus, Cuttlefish or Moral Eel may make an appearance.

The Discover Scuba Diving course really is the perfect introduction to the underwater world. It teaches you the skills you need to explore in the safest and smoothest possible way, all with the comfort of knowing our experienced and attentive instructors are with you every step of the way.
Having this level of training also sets you up extremely well for a full course in the future. Once you have a taste of diving, don’t be surprised if you end up hooked!
