FAQs:
Can I go scuba diving without a license?
Yes! If you do not have a diving certification, but would like to go diving, then we have a 1 day (3 hour) course which would suit you perfectly. The PADI Discover Scuba Diving course (try dive) allows you to enjoy a dive to a maximum depth of 12m. All you need is to complete some basic paperwork, including a short medical questionnaire, and you are ready to go! You will have a classroom session explaining all you need to know, do some training in shallow water, then head out for your dive. Interested? Check out our courses here to find out more, or book online here.
Do I need a medical examination from a doctor to go diving?
For most people, no. Diving is a very inclusive sport, and for most of us answering just a few basic medical questions is enough to be declared fit to go diving. To find out exactly what those questions are then you can check out the diving medical forms here, there is a link to a PDF of the official paperwork on the page link.
However, if you are not able to complete the medical forms by answering NO to the relevant questions, you may need a signature from your doctor saying that you are fit to dive. A quick visit to your doctor, or even sometimes a phone call, is usually enough to get you in the water.

Is scuba diving dangerous?
There are risks all around us, and diving is no different. As with most activities and sports, if participants do not follow safety procedures and follow their training, there can be issues. However, diving is enjoyed by thousands worldwide every day! If we follow basic safety procedures, stay within limits and do not exceed our training levels, then issues are extremely rare. We pride ourselves on creating the safest possible environment and training for our guests here at Blue Waters.
How deep can I go when scuba diving?
There are multiple limits to the maximum depth we can reach when scuba diving, and it all depends on your certification level.
The recreational dive limit is 40m, so with ‘normal’ scuba equipment you are allowed to go as deep as 40m. To reach this depth you must have a PADI Deep Diver Speciality or equivalent. The first level of certification, PADI Open Water Diver, allows you to reach a maximum of 18m, and level 2, the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, takes you to 30m.
You can also reach 12m without a qualification! The maximum depth for someone taking the Discover Scuba Diving course is as much as 12m, so even beginners can enjoy a real diving experience.
