Ras il-Hobz
Ras il-Hobz, otherwise known by divers as ‘The Middle Finger’ due to the impressive pinnacle that features as the highlight of the dive, is on a quiet stretch of the south coast, between Xatt l-Ahmar and Mgarr ix-Xini.
The dive is a favourite amongst local divers and visitors, with all levels of diver able to enjoy the wide variety or marine life that call this area home.
Due to the unusual topography, there is the chance of a little current around the pinnacle, which brings the fish, making this one of the most lively places on Gozo.
This is also a dive site that can be enjoyed by all divers. Open Water divers can enjoy the large shoals of fish gathering around the top of the pinnacle, with the sunlight bursting over the rock formation. There is a huge amount of interesting marine life to be found above the 18m mark.
Deep divers may also enjoy descending farther as they circle the pinnacle, searching for bigger fish. With depths of up to 100m reachable on the far-side of the middle finger even hardened Tec divers will love this dive.
Overall, the middle finger never disappoints! Bustling with life, impressive topography and beautiful above the surface. What is not to love!
