Calypso Cave/Triple Arch
This dive site is referred to in a number of ways. If you hear Calypso tunnel, cave or Triple Arch, this will be the place! Nestled along the drop off just off Xwejni bay on Gozo’s north coast, it makes for an interesting dive with beautiful topography.
The dive can be undertaken either by boat or from the shore. The shore entrance involves a short swim, akin to the double arch, but with a leisurely pace, it poses no significant challenge. Upon reaching the drop-off to the north, divers can follow it to the right until they encounter Triple Arch. The structure is evidently a collapsed underwater cave that, over centuries of exposure to powerful waves, has transformed into something unique. A tunnel now leads divers into this half-cavern, featuring various holes and smaller arches that allow light to filter through, creating a beautiful effect in the clear water.
Divers need to be mindful of air consumption and ensure they reserve enough to return to Xwejni Bay for exiting the water. Overall, it's an intriguing dive that certainly warrants the effort of a short swim.
